Vertical Bypass/Isolation Switch

Russelectric Inc.n single or two source configurations, the RTB and RTBD combination automatic transfer-bypass/isolation switches can handle loads to 4000 amps. The standard switch is designed to provide break-before-make bypass operation to allow the operator to bypass directly to either the normal or emergency source regardless of the position or condition of the transfer switch. For loads to 3000 amps, the company offers a vertical space saving design in which the bypass/isolation switch is located above the transfer switch to reduce the unit's footprint. For applications where bypass with a momentary interruption of the load is not acceptable, a switch with no load-break bypass operation is available. In both designs, once the automatic transfer switch has been bypassed and isolated, it can be rolled out of its enclosure on rollers or casters for inspection and maintenance.
