The BELCO semi-dry flue gas scrubbing system uses a spray dryer, coupled with either a precipitator or a fabric filter for a combined acid gas and particulate removal system.

BELCO provides a complete semi-dry scrubbing system that removes particulate matter and acid gases from combustion flue gas. While capturing mercury, heavy metals, dioxins and furans.

The heart of the BELCO semi-dry scrubbing process is the spray dryer absorber. Flue gas enters the top of the reactor where it is immediately mixed with a finely atomized spray of reagent from BELCO's patented dual-fluid nozzle. The acid gases are absorbed by the reagent to form neutralized salts; at the same time the water evaporates leaving a dry powder.

The dried reaction products and flyash are swept out of the reactor to a particulate collector where they are removed from the flue gas. BELCO can supply a variety of collection devices...pulse jet or reverse air fabric filters or electrostatic precipitators...depending on process requirements.
