Chint Solar And Voltis Start New Joint Venture 'Voltison' To Develop A Circa 5 GW Renewable Projects Pipeline In The UK

Chint Solar, a leading European developer and EPC in the renewable energy sector, and Voltis, an established renewable energy developer based in London, have joined forces to co-develop a circa 5 GW portfolio of renewable energy and storage projects in the United Kingdom.

Through a newly established Joint Venture, the partnership is poised to develop a portfolio of 15+ projects across the United Kingdom, ranging from locally consented solar, battery and wind (up to 100MW), to 750MWp+ Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects via Development Consent Orders. With all necessary land rights secured, the portfolio is well placed to deliver a mix of hybrid projects combining utility scale solar, battery storage (BESS) and wind.

By combining Voltis’ extensive experience in originating, consenting and developing solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across the UK and Chint Solar’s proven expertise in development, construction/EPC, and financing, the partnership is uniquely positioned to capitalise and accelerate the development of this portfolio, which will mark a major contribution to the UK’s targets as set out under the UK Government’s ‘Clean Power 2030 Action Plan’ (CP30).

Through its partnership with Voltis, Chint Solar is taking its first steps into the UK market. The European developer of sustainable energy projects has already completed more than 30 projects in the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Portugal, totaling approximately 1 GWp.

Mark van Rij, Country Manager UK at Chint Solar: “We are very excited to mark our entry into the UK market through this strategic collaboration. By combining Chint’s expertise and strengths with Voltis’ track record in solar, wind, and battery storage, we aim at developing multi-technology assets that deliver a stable renewable and reliable energy output to high demand off taker industries and the UK as a whole. We are very much looking forward to this partnership.

Noah Hitchcox, Co-Founder of Voltis: “This partnership is a perfect example of how collaboration can unlock new opportunities in the renewable sector. By joining forces with Chint Solar we are strengthening our ability to realise projects that will accelerate growth in the renewable energy market. Together, we bring complementary knowledge that will allow us to make a real impact.”

Alexa Capital was acting as exclusive financial advisor to Voltis in this transaction. Ashurst and Eversheds Sutherland acted as legal advisors to Voltis and Chint respectively.
